[JMS] Tempest Starting This Month

Nexon Japan has revealed the teaser site for the upcoming Tempest update which will land in Japan MapleStory starting later this month. The updates will include the Luminous, Kaiser and Angelic Buster classes. No dates for the release of these updates has yet been revealed but the teaser videos can be viewed below.

Nexon Japan has revealed that these Japanese service of MapleStory will be receiving the pirate and thief revamp on April 25 before moving onto Phantom on May 30.

[MS] International MapleStory October 19 Content Updates

October 19 will be a busy day for MapleStory players all over the world as several services of the game will be going thorough patches to add in content.

Japan MapleStory 2.04: Legend

JapanMS’s first Legend update is here! Included in this update are the Cannon Shooter and Mercedes classes. JapanMS has decided to merge the Jump! and Legend update in two patches, on October 19 and November 16.

No, not a typo. Not a joke. Japan MapleStory will be the first service of MapleStory outside of Korea to receive the Legend update.

Cannon Shooters and Mercedes arrive on October 19, Demon Slayers on November 16.

The next “Fastest Updating” and “Most Updated” rankings aren’t due out until the end of the year but I have a feeling we’ll see JapanMS rise on both lists unless the other services of the game make some surprising announcements soon.

[MS] “Fastest Updating” and “Most Updated” Rankings: Q3 2011

It’s the final week of the final month of the quarter and that means it’s time for Msupdate’s “Fastest Updating” and “Most Updated” Rankings.

This project started in April when I compared the content of all the services, but specifically KoreaMS, GlobalMS, MapleSEA and EuropeMS, in Content Speed Comparisons: KMS, GMS, MSEA, EMS . The last rankings were “Fastest Updating” and “Most Updated” Rankings: Q2 2011 .

Due to its closure on October 31 and the lack of updates since December 2010, BrazilMS has been removed from the rankings.

To quite understand what I mean by “fastest updating” and “most updated”, why I feel that EuropeMS remains the fastest updating service and why additional, original and exclusive content cannot be counted in how fast a MapleStory service updates (*cough* JapanMS), please read Content Speed Comparisons: KMS, GMS, MSEA, EMS.

There has been a pretty major shakeup in the Fastest Updating rankings with JapanMS falling 4 places and MapleSEA rising 5.

[JMS 1.94] Renaissance

The Chaos updates are coming to Japan this summer as ‘Renaissance’. I don’t see how ‘renaissance’ in any way describes what is going on with this update, so I think Nexon Japan just randomly chose a cool sounding word knowing that most JapanMS players won’t know what the heck it means. Anyway, it’s a three part update that adds in the Chaos content that were are used to but also JAPAN EXCLUSIVE CONTENT: Monster Familiar and the Spirit Weapons.

Going live on July 13 is the first update which includes the rebalance of Aran, Evan and Dual Blade, Monster Familiar, Spirit Weapons and Gate of the Future.

Monster Familiar allows maplers to capture monsters which will follow them around like pets and attack with you!

Spirit Weapons absorb monster spirit after the monster is killed. After collecting a certain amount of monster spirit, a special and powerful skill can be used.
