It’s funny how not following a game for two weeks can make you miss even an incredible announcement such as this. It had been announced on November 15 that Nexon America has opened its service of Vindictus to users from Australia and Mexico! Two new servers have been opened, one for each region.
This means that a service of Vindictus (known as Mabinogi Heroes in the East) is now available in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Australia, South Korea, Europe, Japan, China, Taiwan and Hong Kong.
Vindictus Korea (‘Mabinogi Heroes’) will finally receive the Archer hero, Kai very soon. Kai is currently in the game’s test server.
Whether or not you play Vindictus or care about it, the trailer is awesome so WATCH IT.
It is not yet known when this will make it to North America or Europe, but it shouldn’t be too long a wait.
That’s right, folks. It has been one year since the free-to-play phenomenon Vindictus went live in North America. Known as ‘Mabinogi: Heroes’ in Asia, Vindictus is the prequel to the established fantasy life MMO Mabinogi. The game is developed by the same company which developed Mabinogi and Nexon subsidiary DevCat. Usually a game spreads around Asia before finally making an appearance over there in the West. But this time the developers were so sure that Vindictus would be the next big thing that they urged Nexon America to take it up, and the North American publishing branch of Nexon Co. Ltd. became the second publisher of the game, after Nexon Korea. The next big thing it was. Vindictus is described as Nexon’s biggest game launch yet and has been critically acclaimed by the general gaming industry. Built on the source engine, Vindictus‘ graphics are beautiful and elegant, the combat is brutal and the physics are perfect.
Vindictus took home SEVEN awards at the Korean Game Awards including the grand prize and the biggest of them all, the Presidential Award!
If you haven’t already played the game, I strongly suggest you try it out now. I all honestly, the game can get repetitive. But don’t worry, because the combat, graphics and other aspects of the game make up for the repetitiveness and I have a feeling that an open world will be coming to Vindictus in the future.
Massively has a look back at Vindictus’ first year of service in America and a look at the game now. Read on!

[VINEU] [MSA] [CA] Vindictus Europe CBT Begins + MapleStory Adventures 1.10 + Combat Arms Fusion Stage 2
Nothing annoys me more than when a game publisher says “Close Beta” instead of the correct “Closed Beta”.
Europe’s most anticipated free-to-play MMO ever has finally entered its closed beta! Welcome Europeans to the land of Vindictus! Unfortunately, players of Vindictus live in a less attractive time than that of players of Mabinogi which takes place several hundred years after the events of Vindictus. Less attractive, that is, unless you enjoy endless bloodshed. Vindictus Europe is currently available in English and German.
The air is thick with despair, and the battles never cease. Rain falls, yet the land is barren, as if the earth has been drenched in too much bloodshed to bear fruit. Monstrous creatures lurk in every trench, cave, and valley. To survive, people have huddled together, forming ramshackle towns with high walls. Yet, cowering behind those walls does not guarantee safety…
What has become of the outside world? Few people know. Fewer care to find out. As the common folk trudge from one empty day into the next, only one thought keeps them going: the Legend. The Legend will come to pass. The people yearn for it, pray for it. They hope and believe. And because they believe, they know.
One day, they will be in Erinn.
In this world, there is but one moon, and it shines upon a wasteland where Fomors and beasts roam, hungry to tear flesh from bone. Not so in Erinn. In Erinn, there will be two moons, Eweca and Lateka, and they will shine with the brightness of the gods. There, no one will age or fall ill, and the land will be rich with bountiful resources.
It is the dream of Erinn, the paradise promised in the Legend, which fuels humanity in these dark times. The people wait, as they have for countless generations, for the black-winged goddess to come and save them.
They wait. Because the Legend is truth. It must be, for it is all they have.
Vindictus is the only Nexon America game to be nominated for a Game Developers Choice Online Award as we prepare for the second ever Game Developers Conference Online to be held in Austin, Texas from October 10 to 13, 2011. Vindictus has been nominated in the categories of ‘Best New Online Game’ and ‘Best Online Visual Arts’.
Three Rings Design’s Spirit Knights leads the pack with four nominations, followed by Trion World’s Rift, Zynga’s FrontierVille and Lolapps’ (which has just been heavily invested into by Nexon) Ravenwood Fair, with three nominations.
Vindictus (Mabinogi: Heroes outside of North America and Europe) is a next-generation free-to-play action MMORPG with levels of action never before seen in a free title. After a huge launch in Korea and North America in 2010, Vindictus now sets its eyes on China (where it is currently between beta phases), Europe (where closed beta begins this September) and Japan (with beta beginning later this year).
