[GMS] How Many Servers Came Out Per Year?

Here’s another random, but relevant, blog post.

2005 [4]: Scania, Bera, Broa, Windia
2006 [2]: Khaini, Bellocan
2007 [2] Mardia, Kradia
2008 [2]: Yellonde, Demethos
2009 [1]: Galicia
2010 [3]: El Nido, Zenith, Arcania
2011 [2]: Chaos, Nova

Two months between Scania and Bera. Two months between Bera and Broa. Three months between Broa and Windia. Two months between Windia and Khaini. Seven months between Khaini and Bellocan. Six months between Bellocan and Mardia. Seven months between Mardia and Kradia. Ten months between Kradia and Yellonde. Three months between Yellonde and Demethos. Thirteen months (1 year and 1 month) between Demethos and Galicia. Twelve months (1 year) between Galicia and El Nido, Zenith, Arcania. Six months between El Nido, Zenith, Arcania and Chaos. One month between Chaos and Nova.

And I predict that we will get Legend and Cosmo servers when the Legend update is released since Cosmo came second behind Nova in the poll for what server should come out with Chaos (KMS got Legend and Elf).

[MSU] 2 Years!

August 28 will make two years since the Msupdate blog was opened. It sure has been fun, even after I was put out of the prediction business by Nexon’s new patch schedule.

MTV’s Music Video Awards 2011 is premiering on August 28 at 9PM ET (6PM PT)!

And most importantly, August 29 is Michael Jackson’s 53rd birthday!

[GMS] Unscheduled Maintenance – August 26, 2011

Update: The maintenance has ended an hour and 25 minutes early and the game is open as of 1:35PM Pacific/4:35PM Eastern. Total maintenance time was one hour and 20 minutes.

Nexon will be performing unscheduled maintenance on all game servers on Friday, August 26, 2011. During this period, MapleStory will be unavailable. Game maintenance will last approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes. This maintenance will address a server instability issue.

The Reason I Predict Legend For This Winter

Update: And Nexon has done what I think is best and is on track for a Winter 2011 release of Legend as they release Ascension on September 28!

Some people have been asking why I insist on Legend coming to GlobalMS this Winter (December/January), rather than Spring 2012 (March/April) or Summer 2012 (June/July)  after reading my recent post with my predictions on Jump! and Legend’s arrivals.

The thing is that Legend features three new classes. THREE NEW CLASSES. Unless Nexon has lost their minds, they won’t release three new classes at any time other than Winter or Summer. Sure, Spring Break is a good time to release a big update (such as Evan in late March 2011), but it’s not very likely that THREE new classes will be released then. And since the next Summer is ten/eleven months away, I doubt we’ll be waiting that long. So the only logical time for the release of Legend is December 2011/January 2012. That is unless we plan to pull a MapleSEA and not release it until next Summer while receiving filler patches of events until then, like SEA did with Big Bang.

It’s not hard to predict that Legend will arrive this Winter. It’s hard to predict where Jump! will fit into this whole situation. But whatever Nexon has planned, I’m sure it’ll be for the best and I’m sure some exclusive content will be coming with it!

[VIN] Vindictus Nominated for Two GDC Online Awards 2011

Vindictus is the only Nexon America game to be nominated for a Game Developers Choice Online Award as we prepare for the second ever Game Developers Conference Online to be held in Austin, Texas from October 10 to 13, 2011. Vindictus has been nominated in the categories of ‘Best New Online Game’ and ‘Best Online Visual Arts’.

Three Rings Design’s Spirit Knights leads the pack with four nominations, followed by Trion World’s Rift, Zynga’s FrontierVille and Lolapps’ (which has just been heavily invested into by Nexon) Ravenwood Fair, with three nominations.

Vindictus (Mabinogi: Heroes outside of North America and Europe) is a next-generation free-to-play action MMORPG with levels of action never before seen in a free title. After a huge launch in Korea and North America in 2010, Vindictus now sets its eyes on China (where it is currently between beta phases), Europe (where closed beta begins this September) and Japan (with beta beginning later this year).
