[MS] “Fastest Updating” and “Most Updated” Rankings: Q2 2011

I have decided to update my rankings of the different services of MapleStory based on their speed of updates and how much of the main storyline content they currently have covered once every quarter. Today is the finally day of the second quarter of the year, the middle day of the year.

To quite understand what I mean by “fastest updating” and “most updated”, why I feel that EuropeMS remains the fastest updating service and why additional and exclusive content cannot be counted in how fast a service updates (*cough* JapanMS), please read Content Speed Comparisons: KMS, GMS, MSEA, EMS.

Fastest Updating

Current Rank Service Move Since April 2011
1 Europe MapleStory
2 Global MapleStory
3 Japan MapleStory +5
4 Korea MapleStory +1
5* China MapleStory -2
5* Taiwan MapleStory -2
7 Thailand MapleStory -2
8 MapleStory South East Asia
9 Brazil MapleStory

*ChinaMS and TaiwanMS are tied, this isn’t a mistake

EuropeMS remains in its firm #1 position as it continues to add in content at a fast pace. Big Bang after just over 4 years in service? Europe I envy you. Well no not really, we’re on our way to Chaos. But wow Europe gets content fast.

GlobalMS will keep its place at #2 because of the speed at which the Chaos updates are being delivered. By the time ChinaMS and TaiwanMS receive their 2nd Chaos, update GMS will have just received its 3rd update. By the time TaiwanMS and ChinaMS complete their 3 Chaos updates, GlobalMS will be preparing for its 5th.

JapanMS has skyrocketed up the rankings because although they are getting Renaissance (Chaos) a few weeks after GlobalMS, ChinaMS and TaiwanMS, they have come back from lacking Ice Ravine and the Chaos bosses a few months ago to preparing for their Renaissance updates to launch this summer. I hope that this increase in speed for JapanMS will not be short lived.

Of course there’s Korea MapleStory. The hardest of them all to rank since there’s nobody to compare it to really. KoreaMS has also risen up the ranks since it has been updating pretty quickly recently. From Chaos, straight into Jump! and then right into Legend. If it weren’t for JapanMS’s triumphant return to bigger updates and GlobalMS’s close Chaos updates, KoreaMS would definitely be ranked #2.

ChinaMS and TaiwanMS continue to receive the same updates on the same day and are therefore ranked the same for the second ranking update in a row. They both got their first Chaos update on the same date as GlobalMS, but their updates are much more spread out that GlobalMS’s, so they’ll get more Chaos content later.

ThailandMS received Big Bang and hasn’t gotten any hints of any updates since then, which disappoints me as it seemed that they were really picking up the pace. Therefore, they have moved down the ranks. Come on AsiaSoft, get some content in. ThaiMS does have a way of suddenly coming out of nowhere with a few big updates, so I wouldn’t be too too worried.

The lack of content delivery from AsiaSoft continues in MapleSEA. The once great MapleSEA that everyone said would catch up to KMS and other stuff like that is now begging for updates. Their Mechanic update comes to so long after the two previous Big Bang updates (all the way in July, which the other updates took place in May). This also leads me to wonder when their next update after Mechanics will be. We’ll just have to wait and see how MapleSEA fares.

Do I even have to explain why BrazilMS is at the bottom of the table?

Most Updated

Current Rank Service Move Since April 2011
1 Korea MapleStory
2 Global MapleStory
3* China MapleStory
3* Taiwan MapleStory
5 Japan MapleStory +1
6 Thailand MapleStory -1
7 MapleStory South East Asia
8 Europe MapleStory
9 Brazil MapleStory

*ChinaMS and TaiwanMS are tied, this isn’t a mistake

If you need an explanation as to why KoreaMS is at the top of the most updated list then I suggest that you go see a psychiatrist.

GlobalMS just can’t get to #1, can it? It is #2 on both the fastest updating and most updated lists, as it was in April. With how close the Chaos updates are, GlobalMS will be the first outside of Korea to complete the main three parts of Chaos and Jump! has already been hinted to come later this year.

ChinaMS and TaiwanMS, as I said before, keep getting the same updates on the same day. I just can’t tell which is more updated, if one is. They’re both receiving all the Chaos updates on the same day too.

JapanMS has surpassed ThaiMS with its recent fast updating and ThaiMS’s slow updating. With its Renaissance updates coming soon, but after GlobalMS, ChinaMS and TaiwanMS, JapanMS takes the #5 spot.

ThaiMS was doing quite well up to Big Bang. But since it received its Big Bang update earlier this year, it hasn’t gotten anything else other than a few cash shop updates. I hope that Chaos will be announced for ThaiMS soon.

MapleSEA has fallen to just getting its Big Bang updates when GlobalMS, TaiwanMS, ChinaMS and JapanMS are getting their Chaos updates and KoreaMS is receiving the Legend updates. Not good. Poor MapleSEA.

EuropeMS, although catching up fast due to its fast updating, is still a ways behind (approximately six month behind GlobalMS and 12 months behind KoreaMS). They’re now competing with MapleSEA, but are still behind them.

Yeah… you know the situation with Brazil. I’m not even sure if BrazilMS deserves a place on the list right now.

[TwMS 1.32] Game Update – [Chaos 1]

So GlobalMS, ChinaMS and TaiwanMS will be getting their Chaos updates basically on the same day.

Congrats Taiwan!

[CMST] ChinaMS Tespia Open For Chaos

Shanda Games, the publisher of MapleStory in China, has opened the upcoming Chaos update for testing in CMST. Although no date has yet been announced, it is likely that ChinaMS will be the first service of the game outside of Korea to receive the Chaos update, as could have already been expected after creation of the Heroes and Dual Blade was temporarily disabled quite a while ago.

TaiwanMS has also began advertising their Chaos update but it’s nothing major so I doubt they’re getting Chaos too soon.

Chaos likely arrives in Global MapleStory on June 29!

[DFO] Happy 1st Anniversary Dungeon Fighter Online

Today, June 9, marks one year since Dungeon Fighter Online (‘Arad Senki’ in Japan, ‘Dungeon & Fighter’ outside of North America and Japan) was launched officially here in North America. Dungeon Fighter Online is likely the most popular game in the world with over THREE HUNDRED MILLION (300,000,000) players worldwide and an only recently surpassed world record of 2.2 million concurrent users. In comparison, MapleStory has a little over 100 million players worldwide. The game is developed by Nexon subsidiary Neople and was first launched in Korea in August 2005. It has since been localized for Japan, China, Taiwan and North America.

Many events are being held for DFO’s 1st anniversary including 3x EXP, 2x Drop and +50 to all stats on June 11-12 and June 18-19.
