This Month In Our Past: May [2012 Edition]

Before I begin with my monthly installment of This Month in Our Past, I’d like to say a huge happy 9th birthday to Korea MapleStory, the world’s first service. On Tuesday, April 29, 2003, the public was officially introduced to Maple World for the first time.

May is probably the biggest month for Global MapleStory (and me). Sure the content hasn’t been all that spectacular and some events have been huge let downs but it was in May of 2005 that the Global service of MapleStory was launched officially. One of the game’s most powerful bosses and quite a lot of excusive content  met us this month in our past. May is also my month of birth!

  1. Dang it, I hoped to suprise you on your b-day by wishing you a happy birthday.. but now that you told it to everyone so recently the effect is gone…

Also, to all my fellow Dutchies, Happy Dutch Queens Day =D

    • Sorry to ruin your plan.

      Happy Dutch Queens Day WOOOOOOOO YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀
      Umm… what’s Dutch Queen’s Day?

Edit: This, right here, is four thousand comments :).

      • Dutch QUeens Day is a special holiday for people in the netherlands. It is originaly in celebration of one of our former queens back in the, heck I don’t know, 1960’s ? It was before I was born. It is a day when the queens (or king, depending how is next in hierachy), and the whole royal family goes to visit cities and towns. It has been made clear like, a year before they will visit there, what towns they will visit so preperations can be made. It will be on national television the whole day and stuff …
The town will do it’s best to impress the royal family and show as much of uniqueness of it’s self by showing off local products and activities. There is a set route for the royal Family to walk, blocked off with fences. During the route there are people, or small organizations, that will have a small place reserved. Some might make a tennis field and play tennis on it, hoping that someone of the royal family will play a tennis game with them.
A group of boyscouts might be baking cookies and giving them to the queen. The city decides what the program looks like, so not everyone can just sit there on the route of the queen…. you have to do something special.

SO basicly it is just hte royal family walking a special route where the city shows it’s uniqueness. It is common for the family to join into activities allong the way, like, play a game of tennis with people or whatever happens to be allong the way.

That is one side of Dutch Queens Day. The other side is where people are gonig to the streets, and in one main place of the city, everyone is allowed to have their own kind of stand where they sell stuff… I dont know what to call it. Kind of like a garage sale, but then it is mostly aimed at kids… and that want to sell their trash.
It’s a national day of celebration, with a lot of festivals. It used to celebrate a former queens b-day, but now it’s just for fun

  2. it’s sometime like this :

    or :

Btw the word I was looking for was Flea Market 🙂
