[NXNA] Xfire Rankings of Nexon America Games

Random, but relevant post of October 23, 2011.

In addition to maximum number of concurrent users, the Xfire rankings of games is also a reliable, rough idea of the popularity of games. As expected, most Nexon America games have a good Xfire ranking.

1. Vindictus: #22 (peak: #14)
2. Combat Arms: #31 (peak: #8)
3. MapleStory: #32 (peak: #11)
4. Atlantica: #43 (peak: #23)
5. Mabinogi: #53 (peak: #32)
6. Dragon Nest: #67 (peak: #30)
7. Dungeon Fighter Online: #107 (peak: #25)

As you can see Nexon’s games are consistently performing well on the Xfire rankings, except DFO who’s ranking has fallen off dramatically since its peak.

Top 25 Ranking

1. League of Legends (F2P) (Riot Games)
2. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (Activision)
3. World of Warcraft (Blizzard)
4. Call of Duty 2 (Activision)

25. Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory (Activision)

The games in red and the overrated games who don’t deserve their ranking.

Wondering why MapleStory isn’t in the top 25? It’s because it’s October. Come July, August, December, January, March and April, Nexon games like MapleStory and Combat Arms rise the rankings as more players log in to play!

  1. LoL … Minecraft DOES deserve it’s top 5 spot .. why ? Because it is a BEAST creativity game .. it’s awsome, and a big chunk of people play it on a more regular basis than they play other games .. I agree … LotRO is like Runescape V2.0 and should just be at the bottom, 1 spot above runescape.. Btw, on what spot is runscape.. Bottom ?
And why is league of legends on the top spot … is it so good ? And WHY THE HELL CoD2 .. haven’t played it and I’m not planning to since it is a BAD GRAPHIC single player game -,-

    • RuneScape is #40. It should be at the bottom. Minecraft isn’t that great a game. It’s very innovative, but doesn’t deserve #5 IMO.

      • So wait …. DFO is like tripple as bad as Runescape .. HOW IN THE WORLD IS THAT POSSIBLE !!! DFO has better graphics, better animations, better EVERYTHING ! What the hell … what is this based on.. just howmuch the playerbase likes their game ??

        • It’s based on the Xfire counter which counts the number of minutes Xfire players spend on each game per day. It’s a good judgement of how active the playerbase of a game is.

          • oooh so all it shows is the collective hours of people played ….. THat doesn’t show how good a game is. A game can have 100.000 total players and is the best game, but a game can also just be crap but still have 1million brain dead people… btw, since when does cod2 have a online part ? And since when is it played that much o____0 it has the worst graphics I have seen in a long time !!! WHAT IN THE WORLD IS SO GOOF ABOUT IT ?

            • No, it doesn’t tell how good a game is. It does give a rough indication, like number of concurrent users, of how active the playerbase is. But generally the better the game is the more players spend more time on the game. CoD has a multiplayer option. The graphics were quite groundbreaking at its time of release and the game’s appeal has lasted with many of its players.

  2. So if the rankings are based on amount of time played does that mean Nexon players have more of a life? Lol

    • Not really. I understand where you’re coming from though. What it means is that Nexon games don’t have as many active players, that’s all.

And I plan on posting a post talking about the “having a life” thing and gaming soon. For example, me. I have a girlfriend, a son and a full time job. I have an amazing social life. I’m involved in many sporting activities and do many other activities. According to Xfire, I have played F2P games for 17 hours in the last 7 days. Imagine how many hours of games I have played when you count P2P games. So it’s not necessarily everyone who plays MS a lot who has no life.
