This Month in Our Past: June

It’s June, and you know what that means… SUMMER!! And with the Summer comes big updates. June is also the first month when GlobalMS has had 6 content updates (GlobalMS was released in May so May and before only had 5 updates). In Mays past, Global MapleStory established its defense force base, became the first service of MapleStory to receive an original party quest, one of the cutest and most powerful bosses in the game showed its face, what some believe this the best event ever to be released in the game and much more were released.

A big happy birthday to MapleSEA. MapleSEA’s 6th anniversary will be on June 23.

You: Oh yeah, I agree. Well we’ll basically be taking a lot of content straight from Korea…
Me: NO NO NO!!!!! The fifth and final part of the GlobalMS Chaos update will add into the game EXCLUSIVE CONTENT.
You: And how exactly do you know all of this?
Me: Well, the Machinima team paid a visit to Nexon America’s offices recently and they had an exclusive interview with MapleStory producer Kristin Cox and it is the official unveiling of Global MapleStory’s Chaos update. Not only that, but BLABBER BOX EPISODE 3 IS OUT!!!

Maybe we’ll see even more secrets being unveiled at E3.

New Approval Rating Poll Dates

If anyone was wondering where the ‘Nexon America’s Q2 Approval Rating Poll’ that was supposed to be held from May 2 to May 20 was, I forgot about it O.O’. Therefore, I’m cancelling the Q2 2011 polls. The next one will be the Q3 polls from August 1 to August 19 and then the Q4 polls from November 1 to November 19.

And since I’m on it, the dates for 2012 approval rating polls:

February 6 to February 24, 2012
May 7 to May 25, 2012
August 6 to August 24, 2012
November 5 to November 23, 2012

And for 2013:

February 4 to February 22, 2013
May 6 to May 24, 2013
August 5 to August 23, 2013
November 4 to November 22, 2013

And 2014:

February 3 to February 21, 2014
May 5 to May 23, 2014
August 4 to August 22, 2014
November 3 to November 24, 2014

And now 2015:

February 2 to February 20, 2015
May 4 to May 22, 2015
August 3 to August 21, 2015
November 2 to November 20, 2015

This is all assuming that I’m still in business/don’t cancel/don’t change plans/don’t reschedule.

[NX] Nexon Acquires 20% Stock of Eyasoft

Eyasoft, the developer of Legend of Edda, Luna Online and Iris Online, has had 20% of its stock acquired by Nexon Corp. Nexon has also acquired the publishing right of an upcoming action MMORPG currently in development at Eyasoft known as ‘Obelisk’. Obelisk is an action MMORPG based on ancient Korean history.

This acquisition seems to be a pseudo-investment in Eyasoft from Nexon as Eyasoft, although producing good games, has been a little overambitious and is very low on money. Despite the success of Luna Online (Gala-Net, GPotato), Iris Online (Gala-Net, GPotato) and Legend of Edda (OnNet USA, GamesCampus) in America, the games have not been profitable for Eyasoft in Korea and will all have their Korean services shut down on June 1.

[MSU] GMS History Test Analysis

Well the first Msupdate GMS History Test has come to an end and its time to know how you did in comparison to the community and to learn a thing or two about GlobalMS’s past. I hope you remember your answers. The questions that require one answer are worth one mark and the questions that require three are worth three marks per answer. This means that the entire survey is worth 15 marks.

Question 1

When the MapleStory cash shop was opened, which company had just taken over as the official publishers?

Percentage of survey takers who attempted question: 96.08%

Nexon Korea (8.16%)
Wizet (32.65%)
NXGames (18.37%)
Nexon America (40.82%)

Correct Answer: NXGames

This question was one of the hardest to answer because the event that this is asking about took place a very long time ago and unless you were actually there, you’d probably not know. The correct answer is NXGames. NXGames is the name that the team behind the early Global MapleStory was operating as. This team was based in Korea, servicing the North American-aimed but internationally available GlobalMS remotely from Korea. When GlobalMS was first launched, Wizet was the publisher but when the cash shop was opened NXGames took over.
